Dr. Darin Lee, Principal, LECG
Darin Lee is a Principal in the Cambridge, MA office of LECG, a Sloan Industry Affiliate and has more than 10 years experience advising clients on high-stakes auctions. Dr. Lee received his Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University in 1998 where he specialized in Game Theory, Microeconomics and Industrial Organization. He also holds an M.A. in Economics from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario and a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Victoria, Canada. Dr. Lee has taught Microeconomics, Game Theory, and Mathematical Economics at Brown University and the University of Colorado in Denver.
Dr. Lee is a recognized auction expert and has served as the Chief Auction Strategist for numerous wireless telecommunication firms during spectrum auctions in the US, UK, Nigeria and Egypt, where he was responsible for rules analysis, development of bidding strategies, and round-by-round analysis of bidding behavior. He recently served as Google's Chief Auction Strategist during the FCC's 700 MHz auction. Dr. Lee has also provided auction advice to firms in the electricity, airline, financial securities and diamond industries. Dr. Lee has published articles on auctions and game theory in policy journals such as Telecommunications Policy as well as leading economic journals such as the Journal of Mathematical Economics and Economics Letters.
Mr. Michael Cadwalader, Principal, LECG
Michael D Cadwalader, a principal in the Cambridge, MA office of LECG, has advised clients in the development of auctions in the electricity industry. Mr. Cadwalader received an MBA with distinction in finance and strategic management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was named a Palmer Scholar; he also holds an M.A. in economics from the University of Rochester and an A.B. in mathematics and economics, awarded summa cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis.
For over a decade, Mr. Cadwalader has been involved in the development of auctions in the electricity industry. He was one of the primary developers of the New York Independent System Operator's auctions of ICAP and financial transmission rights (FTRs) and installed capacity (ICAP), and he was also the primary consultant advising Ontario's Independent Electricity System Operator on the development of its FTR auction. Mr. Cadwalader also advised one of the New Jersey electric utilities sponsoring the initial Basic Generation Service (BGS) reverse auction, in which suppliers competed for the right to sell full requirements service to New Jersey consumers; the BGS auction has become a model for how other such auctions should be conducted.
Dr. Mukesh Bajaj, Senior Managing Director, LECG
Mukesh Bajaj is a senior managing director and global leader of LECG’s securities practice. He is a member of the Executive Management Committee of LECG and has previously served on its Board of Directors. He also teaches courses in the MBA, the Evening MBA and Masters in Financial Engineering programs at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr Bajaj received his Ph.D. in finance from University of California, Berkeley. Dr Bajaj spent seven years as an assistant professor of finance and business economics at the University of Southern California. He has published several articles in leading academic and applied journals, such as The Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, International Economic Review, Journal of Derivatives, Journal of Financial Research, Research in Finance, Journal of Applied Finance, Journal of Corporation Law, and Santa Clara Law Review.
As a financial economist, Dr. Bajaj has studied capital markets for over twenty five years, both as an academic and as a consultant. Dr. Bajaj has provided consulting services to leading corporations on matters involving auctions of financial securities. He has studied design of auction mechanisms and their effects on functioning (or failure) of auction markets as well as pricing of securities in such markets. He has consulted on the functioning of the Auction Rate Securities ("ARS") market, and the auction of securities that mimic Employee Stock Options ("ESOs").
Dr. Bajaj has extensive testimony experience in some of the most complex and high profile capital markets matters in the last decade. He has testified in various US District Courts, Superior Court of California, the State Board of Equalization in California, and the US Tax Court as well as in mediations and binding arbitrations.
Dr. Oscar Volij, LECG Academic Affiliate
Professor Volij is Professor of Economics at Ben Gurion Univeristy and an LECG Academic Affiliate. Professor Volij is a renowned game theorist and has published extensively on game theory and auctions in leading economics journals, including Econometrica, the American Economic Review, The Journal of Economic Theory and the International Journal of Game Theory. Professor Volij has taught Auction Theory and Game Theory at Ben Gurion, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Iowa State University and Brown University. Over the past decade, Professor Volij has also served as an academic advisor for both bidders and auctioneers in the US, UK, and Nigeria in industries ranging from telecommunications and energy to financial services. Professor Volij received a Ph.D. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1994.

Roberto Serrano an LECG academic affiliate, the Harrison S. Kravis University Professor of Economics at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and Research Professor at IMDEA Social Sciences in Madrid, Spain. Professor Serrano is an internationally renowned game theorist and has published over 50 articles on game theory, bargaining and auction theory, mechanism design and other topics in leading journals, including Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Economic Theory, Games and Economic Behavior and International Journal of Game Theory. Professor Serrano is currently an Associate Editor of Mathematical Social Sciences and Research in Economics. Professor Serrano has served as an academic advisor to numerous bidders in several high-stakes auctions across the globe. Professor Serrano received his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in 1992 and has taught Microeconomics, Game Theory, bargaining and auction theory and economics of uncertainty and information at Brown University, Universidad Carlos III, Universitat Pompeu Fabra and Harvard University.
Mr. Ethan Singer, Senior Associate, LECG
Ethan Singer is a Senior Associate at the Cambridge, MA office of LECG. Mr. Singer earned a B.A. in Economics with Distinction from Carleton College in 2007, where he received both the Winfield A. Foreman Scholarship for Academic Excellence in Economics and the A.M. Harrison Prize in Economics. Mr. Singer specializes in the development of sophisticated bid-tracking and auction simulation software that allows bidders to test and refine their bidding strategies, predict the potential range of auction round-outcomes, train their auction teams and seemlessly disseminate detailed auction round results across a variety of IT platforms within minutes of a round's completion. Recently, Mr. Singer developed and maintained the bid tracking software used by Google to track and analyze bids during the FCC's 700 MHz auction.
Mr. Stephen Foster, LECG Affiliate
Stephen Foster is an LECG Affiliate based in London and has served as auction manager for several global telecommunications firms in the UK, US and Africa. During numerous spectrum auctions in the UK, Mr. Foster served as the overall project manager for a large European Telecommunications firm, overseeing every aspect of the Company's auction preparations, including legal and regulatory compliance, war-room and facilities build-out, bid logistics, IT and security. Recently, Mr. Foster developed and implemented bid managment procedures for Google during the FCC's 700 MHz auction. Mr. Foster has also consulted numerous wireless telecommunications firms on various product enhancement and converged communications services. Mr. Foster received his MBA in International Business Management in 1992 from the European School of Management (ESCP-EAP) and also holds a Post Graduate diploma in Management Studies from North East London Polytechnic.
